Here we see LTCBTC 1 day SMA30 crossing over to positive slope in bold orange.

Looks great. But I don't recommend this, you're relying on a quirk/bug of the charting package we use in that it accepts multiple points for the same label. May change in future.
what is the package we use? I'd like to learn more.
HighCharts is used to render it in the browser. Different library for the preview images you see in the new site design (those ones don't currently render when this label hack is used, I believe).
Highcharts 4.1 (Q1 2015)
- Add support for multiple color thresholds, zones.
Setting up the heat map series
Heat maps require the modules/heatmap.js file to be loaded.
The heat map series is defined by setting the type to heatmap. A heat map has an X and Y axis like any cartesian series. The point definitions however , take three values, x, y as well as value, which serves as the value for color coding the point. These values can also be given as an array of three numbers.
The color axis
Heat maps borrow a central concept from Highmaps, the color axis. See the docs article on color axis for details
See the featured demos at Heat map and Large heatmap.
plot('depth_of_market_heatmap', np.matrix('1 2; 3 4'), heatmap=True)
please please please???
There's a lot of higher priority stuff to be done first, but I like the idea.
I asked tec support if there was an easy way to change line color and they said there was a "plug in"
difficult to implement?
Yes we need that at tradewave
I'll file this under "nice to have".

I just found this thread while i was searching for the ability to define colors in the plotter and my issue is plotter related as well
I've recognized that sometimes the indicator color appears to dark and blurs with the background. I don't know how you're calculating the colors but defining them in HSL (Hue, Satuation, Lightness) are also valid svg attribute values and it should be easy to prevent "dark blue" lines on the chart.
actually they're using a blackbox plugin from highcharts... so it would be highcharts that would have to get rid of that dark blue... I wrote them one time... never got anywhere.
the other route... high charts does offer an upgrade to the plugin that would allow user level control of line color, but tradewave doesn't have that installed.
